As Head of Design, I played a critical role in modernizing FilmTrack’s flagship product, ensuring a seamless transition from the legacy system to the updated Angular-based platform. My work focused on UX improvements, design consistency, and operational efficiency, making FilmTrack’s tools more intuitive, scalable, and user-friendly.

Key Features

As part of the FilmTrack platform modernization, I led the UX/UI improvements and transition of several key features from the legacy system to the updated Angular platform. Each feature required a balance of usability, efficiency, and business needs, ensuring that FilmTrack’s clients could manage their intellectual property with ease.

The improvements I led in FilmTrack’s flagship product not only enhanced core product functionality but also established scalable design practices that improved efficiency, collaboration, and usability across the platform. My role extended beyond feature updates—I worked to modernize the entire design process and create a scalable design system that would support future growth.

Product & Business Impact:

• Increased efficiency & usability: The redesigned Invoicing, Reports, and Instavails features reduced manual work and improved workflow automation for FilmTrack’s clients, allowing them to make faster business decisions.

• Enhanced client experience & engagement: The launch of Extranet Lite provided a seamless and secure file-sharing solution, improving external client interactions with FilmTrack users.

• Improved rights management accuracy: The Instavails filtering tool streamlined the process of checking contractual rights availability, leading to faster, more confident licensing decisions.

Strengthening the Design Process & Team Efficiency

As part of the platform’s modernization, I introduced key process improvements to ensure scalability and efficiency across design and product teams:

• Established a repeatable UX workflow: Introduced usability testing, iterative design cycles, and collaborative cross-functional reviews into the product development process.

• Turned product managers into designers: Due to resource constraints, I developed training materials and design guidelines that empowered PMs to create simple, on-brand UI solutions without needing a dedicated designer for every update.

• Integrated usability testing into the process: Designers and product managers conducted real-world usability tests to validate assumptions and improve decision-making based on actual user behavior.

Scaling Design with a Systematic Approach

One of my most impactful contributions was the creation of FilmTrack’s Design System, which became the foundation for future product consistency and efficiency:

• Standardized UI components & patterns to ensure consistency across FilmTrack’s suite of products.

• Created a central design library in Figma, making it easier for designers, engineers, and product teams to collaborate.

• Reduced design & development time by providing reusable components, improving alignment between design and engineering.
