My Role

As Senior Manager of UX Design and NOW Brand UX Lead, I was responsible for shaping the user experience across BOLD’s resume and cover letter builders, ensuring that job seekers had a seamless, intuitive, and effective experience. Initially, my work focused on Resume-Now and Cover Letter Now, but as the company expanded, I led UX across all cover letter builders in BOLD’s portfolio.

As BOLD evolved toward focus areas, I was entrusted with leading the Job In Mind focus area, overseeing UX strategy and execution to enhance the entire job-seeking journey. My role was to align user needs with business objectives, driving UX improvements that enhanced engagement, usability, and conversion.

I led and managed a multi-disciplinary team consisting of 4 UX designers, 1 UX manager, 1 visual designer, 1 copywriter, and 1 researcher. Together, we tackled key challenges, conducted user research, designed intuitive workflows, and implemented data-driven improvements that directly impacted user success.

Beyond managing day-to-day UX operations, I played a pivotal role in strategic planning, design system refinement, and cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, and marketing teams. My leadership helped streamline processes, improve design consistency, and foster a culture of user-centric innovation within BOLD’s design organization.

Process

The introduction of a structured design workflow and agile-inspired tracking system at BOLD had a significant impact on both the design team’s efficiency and the broader company’s approach to UX work management. These process improvements led to greater predictability, better workload distribution, and stronger collaboration across teams.

Increased Predictability & Efficiency

Before implementing a structured workflow, design work was often unpredictable, with deadlines shifting based on availability rather than scoped effort. After introducing work tracking, scoping, and agile processes, we saw:

  • More accurate scoping of design tasks, allowing for realistic deadlines and better sprint planning.

  • Improved workload distribution, ensuring that no single designer was overwhelmed while others had downtime.

  • Faster design iterations, as designers had clear expectations for what needed to be completed within each sprint.

Strengthened Collaboration Across Teams

By mirroring developer work tracking structures (e.g., Jira stories tied to feature development), the gap between design, product, and engineering teams was significantly reduced:

  • Design and development teams became better aligned, as designers followed a similar sprint-based workflow.

  • Clearer communication on feature readiness, reducing the need for last-minute design requests or rushed updates before development.

  • A smoother transition of work across UX disciplines, ensuring that tasks moved from interaction design to usability testing, to visual design and copywriting in a structured way.

Influence on Company-Wide Design Process

As the Program Management Organization saw the success of our structured design workflow, it influenced process changes across other design teams at BOLD:

  • Other design teams adopted elements of our tracking and scoping process, improving company-wide visibility into design work.

  • Leadership recognized the value of structured UX workflows, leading to increased investment in design operations.

  • The design team’s agility improved, allowing us to better support product and business goals while still maintaining user-centered design principles.

By implementing these process improvements, I helped create a more structured, scalable, and efficient design team, setting a new standard for how UX work was managed and integrated across BOLD.
